Once all your to-dos are written down, your mind is FREE. You're not stressing about it all before you go to sleep! Get it all out there so that you can turn your brain off and relax. After sleeping like a baby, you'll be motivated and confident to knock things off that list one by one!

But… what if your mind is racing with more than just to-dos?

That's when it's time for a more intense brain dump to help organize your thoughts. When you're trying to make a big decision or find yourself unfocused, unproductive, anxious, or overwhelmed, it's time to pull out pen and paper.

WHAT IS A BRAIN DUMP?

A brain dump is basically what it sounds like. You grab a journal or notebook and write anything down that's on your mind. Things you need to remember, stressors in your life, a recap of your day, dreams and goals you have, prayers you want to remember, frustrations, motivational notes to yourself, anything!

Doing a brain dump is basically like dumping out your junk drawer. It allows you to look through everything that's been weighing you down in your mind and sort through it in the right way. Once you have it all written down, then the next morning you can put your to-dos in your block schedule and come up with a plan of action for everything else that's weighing on you, whether good or bad.

HOW TO COMPLETE A SUCCESSFUL BRAIN DUMP

The best time to do a brain dump is right before bed. When you to completely get everything off your mind and onto paper, then you can relax with a settled mind and go to sleep. But that doesn't mean that you can't also do one during the day whenever a thought comes into your head you don't want to forget about!

It's as simple as keeping a pad of paper, your to-do book, or our beautiful Productivity Planner around so you can write in it whenever you need to. We suggest keeping it by your bed so it's always handy when it's time to brain dump before bed. You can also carry it around with you if that's more effective to keep up with it during the day.
