Budget-Friendly DIY Fall Decor Ideas

Holidays, Home Decor

Autumn is a season of warm colors, cozy textures, and the crisp scent of falling leaves. It's the perfect time to transform your home into a welcoming haven without breaking the bank. Here is a variety of creative and budget-friendly DIY fall decor ideas that will help you add a touch of seasonal charm to your home while keeping your wallet happy!

1. Leafy Garlands & Pinecone Wreaths

The cheapest decoration store is…..NATURE! Collect fallen leaves & pinecones from your yard or a nearby park as the (FREE!) base of your beautiful homemade decor.

After you've accumulated your leaves and cones, you can use them for festive garlands to string across your mantle or staircase or a wreath to add an autumnal pop on your front door!

For leaf garlands, simply space the leaves out evenly along a string of twine and use a small clothespin to attach the leaves by their stems!

Pine cones are the perfect item (along with acorns, if you have them!) to attach to a blank wreath for your front door. You can leave them natural or paint them in fall colors! You can easily find blank wreath forms at craft stores or use a bent wire hanger as a base. Secure your chosen materials with hot glue and finish with a colorful bow or ribbon for a welcoming front door display! Voila!

2. Mason Jar Luminaries

Mason jars are incredibly versatile and make for charming fall decor, and SO cheap to find! You can even use empty pasta sauce jars or buy them from the dollar store! Fill clean empty clear jars with small pinecones, acorns, or even corn kernels and place a tealight candle inside. These luminaries create a warm, rustic ambiance and can be used both indoors and outdoors. Candles are the easiest way to make a cozy environment!

Another option is to paint your mason jars in fall colors or wrap them with twine. You can layer some colorful leaves around the jar and secure them with the twine, as well. Or decorate the jars with adhesive fall-themed stickers! Place battery-operated tealights inside to create cozy ambiance.

3. Flannel and Burlap Throw Pillows

Fall is synonymous with “cozy”, isn't it?! Revamp your existing throw pillows by covering them with flannel or burlap fabric! Instant autumn vibes. You can sew or use fabric glue to create simple envelope-style pillow covers, too. Mix and match different patterns and textures to achieve a charming and rustic look. Plaid is always a YES! You can usually purchase small scraps of fabric at your local craft store very inexpensively, and if you already have throw pillows on hand then these is a very affordable way to add a burst of autumn to your home.

4. Acorn Centerpieces

Create stunning fall centerpieces using acorns and an old glass jar or vase. Fill the container with acorns and finish with faux or real fall flowers. It's an effortless way to bring the beauty of the season to your dining table.

5. Autumn Leaf Bowl

Alright, this might be the most “advanced” DIY item on the list. If you make this, PLEASE share a photo on social media and tag us! (@ThePageCompany on Instagram.) Blow up a balloon to use as a mold for your custom-made leaf-shaped bowl.

You will need to collect a pretty good pile of leaves in an assortment of colors, and it's best if they aren't too dry and crispy yet. Artificial leaves are also a great option. Dip leaves in a mixture of water and glue, then place them on the balloon, overlapping slightly. Once it dries, pop the balloon and remove it, leaving you with a beautiful leaf-shaped bowl.

6. DIY Fall Scented Potpourri

An autumn decor DIY project that is pleasing to the eyes AND the nose!

Create your own fall-scented potpourri by combining: dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and dried apples. Place it in a decorative bowl or mason jar for a delightful fall fragrance.

7. Monster Kid Craft!

This one is for the littles! How cute are these spooky toilet paper roll monsters!

Save up your empty rolls for some Halloween-themed DIY decor that would be perfect for their bedrooms or bathroom counter.

Get creative with googly eyes and construction paper to make your own mummies, Frankensteins, three-eyed monsters, or any other spooky creations they can imagine!

Decorating your home for fall doesn't have to drain your wallet. With these budget-friendly DIY fall decor ideas, you can embrace the season's charm while adding your personal touch to every corner of your home. Get creative, involve the family, and enjoy the process of making your space cozy and inviting for the autumn season.

Happy decorating!
