Today we're going to show you how to uncover some hidden treasure. We're not talking about a pot of gold, but we are talking about money that could be sitting in your bank account instead of going down the drain.
CHECK THE SUBSCRIPTIONS IN YOUR PHONE
But why are we doing this and how is it related to your budget? Because these charges are SNEAKY with a capital S. Often times we sign up for free trials, pay for apps, or enter into subscriptions without even realizing it. (Hint: Your kids do it on accident, too!) So, let's take a few minutes to see what hidden charges might be occurring and put that money back in your wallet.
Grab your phone and let's check those settings! Here's how to do it:
- iPhone Users – Go to settings, then tap on your name and Apple ID (it's up at the top). Next, tap on “Subscriptions” to see a list of all your past and active subscriptions. See one you don't really need? Tap it to cancel!
- Android Users – Open the Google Play Store app on your device, then tap the menu button (look for the three horizontal lines in the top left), then tap “Subscriptions.” You will then see a list of all your subscriptions, and you can tap on any you'd like to cancel.
Nothing there? Good for you! Go check your bank account and your credit card statements while you’re at it. We bet there's at least one subscription or recurring charge you forgot about. Can you cancel it? Every extra dollar adds up!
