Tools I recommend (listed in video)

Here is running list of things you can freeze! Check back as the list will stay updated:


  • Beef
  • Pork
  • Chicken (buy bulk and divide up in smaller portions)
  • Cooked Meat (any type, prepared anyway)
  • Lunch Meat (pull it out a day or so early to thaw before using)
  • Fish/seafood
  • Hot Dogs


  • Cheese (sliced or shredded)
    • Block- slice or shred before freezing
  • Yogurt (exture may change when thawed, so we use frozen yogurt mostly for smoothies)
    • Go-gurts are great to eat as is.
  • Sour Cream (use for cooking/mixing in, texture changes when thawed)
  • Cream Cheese (use for cooking/mixing in, texture changes when thawed)
  • Ricotta Cheese (use for cooking/mixing in, texture changes when thawed)
  • Butter (buy on sale and stock up)

Grains:- thaw out on counter. If it is crusty wrap it in a damp paper towel and microwave for a few seconds and it will make it nice and soft

  • Bread Crumbs (stays fresher longer)
  • Bread
  • Banana Bread or muffins
  • Bagels

Nuts and seeds:

  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Any type of nuts- pine, peanuts, walnuts, cashews, pecans etc.


  • Whole Avocados
  • Bananas- great for making banana bread or smoothies
  • Cranberries- whole (love me some cranberry salsa)
  • Any sliced fruit (especially if it starting to go bad, great for smoothies)
  • Most Vegetables (cut up and freeze. You can also blanch before freezing)


  • Chocolate (Cadbury mini eggs -a must to have them all year!)
  • Candy bars
  • Cookies and baked items
  • Cakes
  • Chocolate chips
  • S'mores Chocolate

Prepared food- Anything in the freezer section, make it yourself and freeze :

  • Freezer Meals (Double just about any recipe, triple foil the top and write the cooking instructions on top)
  • Sauces (store in mason jars. Leave extra space on top for expansion)
  • Soups (store in mason jars. Leave extra space on top for expansion)
  • Pizza
  • Batters
  • Cookie Dough
  • Hummus
  • Guacamole
  • Cooked Beans
  • Refried beans

Baking Items:

  • Yeast (keeps fresh longer)
  • Baking chocolate


  • Egg Roll Wrappers
  • Planting seeds for garden

Here are some additional freezer tips:


  • The deeper the colder: load first with meat and protein
  • Freeze as flat as you can

Types of freezers and how we use them:

  • Upright (my favorite)- easy to organize to and find things
  • Chest freezer- great for meat.
  • Attached to fridge- great for items used every day.
