‘Tis the season for thanks and giving! With our November Gratitude Challenge, we'll work on finding gratitude in everything this month… because there is always, always, ALWAYS something to be thankful for.
You might notice that this month's calendar is a bit different — it's mostly blank!! I might be sleep-deprived, but no, that isn't a mistake! This month's challenges are simple. Each week has a theme at the beginning of the week and a date night idea to help you focus on a specific area of your life.
We hope you'll join in on this simple gratitude challenge and reflect on what you're grateful for this month!
Are you in!?!?
Step 1. Print the Focus on Gratitude Month calendar — if you're not already on the mailing list, SIGN UP HERE to get the November calendar emailed to you.
Step 2. Follow along! Each week there is a theme to help you focus on something to be grateful for. Then, of course, we always suggest wrapping up the week with a simple date or family night to help keep you focused on the people that matter most.
Step 3. As always, adapt the calendar to work for your needs and help you get the most out of the monthly gratitude challenge.
NOVEMBER GRATITUDE CHALLENGE
Our gratitude challenge has two parts for you to tackle daily to help you be more mindful. After all, it's important to start and end each day with gratitude.
Each night before you go to bed, write down at least one thing that happened that you're thankful for. It can be as simple as a smile from a friend, just think of something that made you thankful. It's amazing how taking time to reflect each day will change your perspective about life.
Having trouble thinking of something? Check out the weekly theme to get your thoughts going!
ACTS OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE
Do an act of kindness for someone each day. You can pay for someone's meal, hold a door open, pulling your neighbor's trash in from the curb, giving your spouse a shoulder massage, letting someone in front of you at the grocery store, etc.
Focusing on others not only helps them, it helps US! Need a quick and easy way to help one day? Our Freebs Secret Santa Project starts today! We'd love to have you partner with us as we pay it forward in paying for Christmas for as many families as possible! Find more information about that here.
Your daily gratitude journal and acts of kindness challenge are going to make the biggest impact this month! By the time December rolls around, you will be a pro at looking for the good around you and probably won't want to stop!
NOVEMBER WEEKLY THEMES
Now if you've been joining in our monthly calendar for a while now, you know we're fans of small weekly themes and challenges to help you really focus on a certain area of your life. Focusing in on these areas and finding something (anything) to be grateful for…
GRATEFUL FOR MY COMMUNITY
There are a lot of people in your community that serve you. Make treats for your mail person, the garbage man, bus drivers, teachers or anyone else that helps to make your community a better place.
Finish off the week by heading out this week to serve in the community on a volunteer date night – this can be a family date or just you and your spouse! Either way, a bit a service will do you good as you are doing good for others.
GRATEFUL FOR MY FRIENDS
Every year we love to sit down at this time of year and write a few thank you cards or notes to friends that have made a big impact on our lives throughout the year. We challenge you to have everyone sit down (kids, too) and choose a friend to write to! Make it a fun family activity, grab markers and stickers and let them decorate their cards. After writing them, don't forget to send them off! Everyone loves a little happy mail!
Finish the week off with an at home date night with your spouse, family, or friends!
Host a Friendsgiving date night with your favorite couples. This is one of our favorite things! Make it a themed pie night and play charades for all the things you're grateful for… Or check out our Bowl Game to get to know your friends much better.
GRATEFUL FOR MY HOME
This week we want you to take a few minutes and write down five things you love about your home. It might not be the biggest on the block, it might need a coat of fresh paint or new carpet, and it might not be the home of your dreams, but we're sure you can find five things about your home that make you thankful.
GRATEFUL FOR MY FAMILY
Write each member of your family a note, make a list of things you love about them or are grateful that they do! Sometimes our families are the last people we think to thank and we really ought to thank them more often.
This week, keep it simple! It's Thanksgiving week after all. Grab a treat for date night and just enjoy the people you are with.
Well, there ya go… that's a wrap!
However you do it, I hope you can take time this month to find gratitude and shine a light on others every single day.
Happy November, Freebs!
