Well, freebs. It’s that time of year… sickness is everwhere, so it seemed time to share my favorite family-friendly flu remedies with you! We struggled with a bout of the flu last month, and a few of us are recovering from strep right now as we speak! We have stocked up on all the things that help make recovering a bit easier on everyone, so let’s get to it!
BRING ON THE FLU REMEDIES!
How neat is this?! Cold & Flu relief that you can make with your very own single brew coffee machine! I don’t have one personally, but I know plenty of you do! Popping one of these in to warm up when you’re feeling yucky sounds like comfort in a cup. I thought this was too unique not to share with you!
Ahhh, the smell of eucalyptus oil. I use this magical goodness in essential oil diffusers, and sometimes in our humidifiers. It adds just enough vapor to soothe scratchy throats, or quiet nighttime coughing fits that prevent a good night’s sleep. When kiddos rest better, so does mom, so I’m all about the little things that get them feeling better… faster!
Having a bottle of medicine around that kids don’t mind taking is worth every penny in my book. Anything bubblegum flavored instantly gets two thumbs up around here, so this one is a surefire winner!
Medicated chest rub isn’t my kids’ favorite thing in the world, but much like the eucalyptus oil, the vapors from this magical stuff soothe those coughs away. (Sometimes, I even put it on the bottoms of their feet at bedtime, and cover it with socks. I know, it sounds like hocus pocus, but I had a pharmacist tell me to try it once when my kids were really little, and honestly… it helped! I don’t claim to understand it, I just chalk it up to magic, and leave it at that!)
I am pretty sure kids all around the planet hate the flavor of spicy mint cough drops… and let’s be honest, they aren’t adult favorites most of the time either. There is nothing more sad than a kiddo with a scratchy throat you just can’t soothe. Enter these amazing soothers in the form of suckers! They come in flavors kids like in a resealable bag. You can take what you need, and seal up the rest; total mom win, there!
And, last but not least… the flu shot. When you get them at CVS, you get a 20% off shopping pass that is good until the beginning of next year. That means you can make sure your family is covered vaccine-wise, and then use the shopping pass later to save money on Christmas gifts (they always have a good toy assortment!), or if you need bribery material to get your kid’s in the door for their shot, maybe you can use that 20% to buy them a treat of their choice 😉
Those are my flu remedies! Super simple, but if you’re like me, a few new ideas never hurt!

This post was generously brought to you by CVS but it was 100% my idea, my words, and my opinions of course.
