I’m sorry if you’re on baby overload, this is the last baby post I’ll do for a while! But SO MANY OF YOU have been asking what’s in my hospital bag, what I packed for the hospital, and what my newborn favorites are…I thought I’d do a video to punch them all out at once! So here’s a video showing you exactly what I packed (in my favorite Lily Jade bag, of course), and why!
So without further adieu…here’s
What’s in my Hospital Bag!
Watch the video online or click and watch below:
So there you have it! What are your faves? Do any of ours match up?
For those who are curious, here are more details about the items I mentioned in the video:
Those items are nothing crazy, and you probably guessed most of it. After 5 kids I’ve learned you don’t NEED very much at the hospital. No need to bring your Boppy, bassinet, outfits galore, bottles, pacifiers, etc. If you do, you’re going to need a Harry Potter house elf (you know, the ones you free by giving them clothes…No? Too nerdy?) to help manage your hoards of stuff.
Many of you saw my bag in Mory’s Birth Video and have asked about it. I LOVE my Lily Jade bag! It was given to me and I can’t tell you enough good things about it! Definitely the best gift EVER. She is classy, beautiful, and perfectly practical.
A lot of you were curious as to how it turned into a backpack! It’s super easy. You just take the long shoulder strap, feed it through the ring in the back, and it turns into a backpack! I always leave the backpack strap assembled and switch back and forth between the short shoulder straps, and the backpack when my hands are full.
Now, for more details on my favorite hospital necessities!
I LOOOVE my baby bling headband. I love them because they are soft, stretchy, they actually fit newborn heads, and they stretch with your baby then shrink back down to newborn size with hot water!
As nostalgic as that good ol’ hospital blanket is, I finally packed a cute baby swaddle and I’m so glad I did! I received this one as a gift, and I like that it’s big, lightweight, and of course, adorable.
Cute PJ’s are another item that you need to bring, because the hospital doesn’t provide your baby with an outfit to come home in. I love the jams with feet and baby mitts built in. Carter’s has cute ones, but I LOVE the Walmart Granimals line. They are high quality, fit great, and are CHEAP! (Around $5, can’t beat that.)
And, naturally, I always bring a Bomb Shelter Baby nursing cover with me. As explained in the video, this is a nursing cover I invented to give me full-coverage AND use of my hands without flashing people. Can I tell you a secret? As you saw in the video, Bomb Shelter Baby is restocking covers super soon…with all new fabric, print, colors, designs…you’re going to freak!
TANGENT: While I have you, what are your thoughts on this print? Y’all voted on it online, but now that I see it in person…do you like it? Is it too busy? I know you all LOVED it (it was a clear winner in the vote) but it looks different in person. So will you comment and let me know what you think? I need to order them asap and need to make decisions! Thanks!
I was given this Pink Blush robe and I have to say, it made me feel so much less GROSS in the hospital when people came to visit! So believe it or not, I totally recommend a cute robe. The good news? We have a special promo just for you from Pink Blush! You can save 10% on your order with promo code: funcheaporfree.
Since I get an epidural, I pack lots of entertainment to keep me company while tied up in bed. Crochet supplies, a good book, my computer, all help pass the time a little quicker.
I love to have music during labor; it takes my mind of things, plus if I haven’t had an epidural yet, you never know when I’ll bust out a #PageDanceParty! I brought a bluetooth speaker with me, and created a custom playlist so we had plenty of jams to rock out to while we waited for baby to arrive.
I know many think I’m crazy, but I like having makeup on when in the hospital. Having a newborn means I may or may not be wearing makeup again anytime soon, so bringing my makeup & Lily Jade makeup bag isn’t too strange to me! I love this little bag, she holds everything I like to carry with me in one neat, and tidy little package.

And again, see what I pack in my diaper bag if you’re curious about that!
That’s what I pack! What items do you take with you to the hospital? Tell me in the comments below!
Congrats to anyone having a baby soon, it’s the best! Have a great Friday, Freebs <3
This post was generously brought to you by Lily Jade but it was 100% my idea, my words, and my opinions of course.
