I realize now that several weeks have passed since BBC’16 and it’s darn due time I recapped it for those who are interested! If you recall, I have been throwing this conference since 2013. Only, back then it was called Frugality Boot Camp. It started as a mini conference with 25 freebs in a conference room. 6 months later the demand was so high, we moved into Mountain America Credit Union’s 150 person (A++) office and we haven’t looked back since! It’s my favorite part of the year, I look forward to it every January with great anticipation! It’s so fun for me to get an entire day with YOU, my Freebs, to answer questions, teach you my favorite principles and all my secret sauce, and of course, have a dance party or two.
Here’s how Budget Boot Camp Conference went down this year:
I snapped a quick selfie with some Boot Campers as they arrived to the MACU building:
Every seat was full this year!
I usually only like to have 130 people so we don’t feel crammed like sardines, but this year I had to keep releasing tickets and we were right at 145…with about 50 of them MEN! YAAAAY FOR THE MEN!
We launched into 4 hours of lessons and lectures based on what the attendees wanted to learn about. Some of the popular topics this year included how to budget when your income changes each month (see HERE for tips on that!):
How to afford spending, saving, and paying off debt all at the same time (see The 70% Rule for tips on that one!)
How to talk about money and not want to kill each other (see my “Dividing up Financial Responsibilities” post for tips on that!), which Bubba helped me present, naturally…
Super simple budgeting techniques (see my “simplest budgeting technique EVER!” post for tips on this):
Bubba took the men into a separate conference room so they could talk about manly things in confidence, such as burping, hunting, their dream cars, and how to talk with their wives about money and budgeting and not make them cry. You know, important things like that.
Meanwhile the women and I hung back and talked about meal planning, grocery shopping, and other day-to-day spending tips (see “How I grocery Shop” for lots of tips!):
And of course…we had some killer giveaways!
In addition to some bling and swag for some Boot Campers throughout the conference, MACU gave $100 to anyone who opened an account with them, and $100 in cold hard CASH, which I matched with my own $100 to sweeten the pot!
In true Jordan fashion, we had a dance-off that was basically the most epic thing ever. Can you believe the MEN got 1st and 2nd places?! So proud!
Told you there would be a dance party 😘 I was too busy dancing to take a good video but don’t you worry, I’ve got highlights up my sleeve! Thank you to all 140+ of you who came to #BBCconf today. There was such a good energy…and so many HUSBANDS!! Around 50 of you!! Can’t tell you how exciting that was. Days like this make what I do so much cooler. Love you all! #NowINeedANap #TheBudgetBootCamp HUGE thank you to @mountainamericacu for the AMAZING facility and support!! 💕
At the end, we enjoyed having lots of one-on-one time with the Boot Campers who had additional questions.
I can’t tell you how my heart SINGS for my Boot Camp Conferences! They make my whole year, and make all the long hours worth it.
Were you sad to miss BBC’16? Have no fear!
Everything we talked about (and about 16 hours more…) is on my Budget Boot Camp Program…that just went live THIS WEEK! (Psst use the code FCFBLOG (case-sensitive) to get an extra 10% off the existing $150 discount! You’ll have to hurry though, now that the program is live it’s bound to go up in price.)
It’s an online program that can be watched anywhere in the world, from any device that has internet access. You get all my best tips and secret sauce in one place, via 27 videos and corresponding “workouts”, so you can go at your own pace and get the instant tools for applying it to your personal financial situation.

You can subscribe using the box at the top of any page of this blog. It really is the best way to stay updated without having to check the blog regularly (though I wouldn’t hate it if you did, wink wink). Instagram is also a great place for updates on speaking engagements and classes of mine.
Ultimately, my goal is to someday take my Boot Camp on the road, and come visit YOUR city!
Would that interest you? If so, please leave a comment below with the closest major city to you and I promise I’m going to work my tail off to make it happen somehow!
Huge thanks again to MACU. They are so stinking generous to let us use their facility. Without them, there’s no way I could only charge $10-$15 (plus free for Budget Boot Camp members and FREE husband tickets!!) for a conference like this, the overhead would just be too high. Take some time to look at what MACU has to offer! We are opening several accounts with them for our kids, and they have a great FREE program for their users that gives Mint (whom I now hate, long story…) a run for their money. Check it out!
Hope to see you all at BBC’17 next year, it’s going to be the most epic one yet!! (And don’t worry, I haven’t announced a date yet or anything, you’re not missing out. I hardly know what I’m eating for breakfast tomorrow, let alone when 2017’s conference is going to be, ha!)
Love you all!
