Whether it's just you, or you have eight kids running around your space like we do, these twelve clever home organization ideas are going to simplify your life and rock your world! Let's get to them!

HOME ORGANIZATION IDEAS FOR STORAGE

Whip your home into shape with these easy peasy home organization storage ideas. We'll show you how to make the most of your space in the most clever ways! These hacks are so genius, you'll wish you knew about them sooner!

UTILIZE DOOR SPACE

It's time to put that door space to good use! Grab your Christmas wreath door hangers and put them to good use all year long. Hang them on the inside of your closet doors to store things like bags, purses, wet towels, coats, robes, etc. The possibilities are endless. You can even put one on your child's bedroom door as a place to keep their backpack when school is in session!

(Pssstttt… You can also use Command Hooks or other over-the-door storage hangers from the store if you don't have any Christmas wreath hangers!)

UP-CYCLE EMPTY CANISTERS

Stop throwing away those formula cans, oatmeal containers, and hot chocolate cans. Put them to good use instead! Gently rinse them out, dry them completely when you're done, and fill them up with dry goods.

We like to store anything from flour, rice, and even cookies in these canisters! If you're feeling crafty, cover them with cute paper and write the contents on the outside. You can even make some cute vinyl labels with a Silhouette machine if you have one!

ADD DRAWERS TO CLOSETS

No, we aren't suggesting you do a closet renovation and add built-ins… Who do you think we are? Grab some of those plastic 3-drawer bins from Walmart (or a yard sale if you're lucky!) and stick those in your closets for an easy and dirt-cheap storage solution. No more wasted floor space in the closets!

While you can use these drawers to organize literally anything, we love to use these in our coat closet to keep everyone's shoes organized and in their place. The best part? The kids can easily toss their own shoes into the correct drawer, meaning less cleanup and work for you!

USE A LAUNDRY BASKET TO STORE BATH TOYS

Does anyone else hate dealing with wet, soggy bath toys? Where oh where do we store them?! So. Much. Water. Ugh. Well, we've found the perfect solution—a small laundry basket from the dollar store!

Not only is a small laundry basket the perfect place to store the toys when they aren't in use, but the holes in the basket also allow all the water to drain out so they aren't sitting in stale, old bathwater. Yuck. After your kids get out of the bath, simply have them toss all the bath toys into the laundry basket and leave it right there in the tub until they are dry!

HOME ORGANIZATION IDEAS FOR THE KITCHEN

Keep your kitchen spick and span with these kitchen organization ideas. From cooking supplies to snacks for your kiddos, we've got tips and tricks to organize it all!

PUT COOKING SUPPLIES WHERE YOU CAN EASILY GRAB THEM

We love spices, and it shows by the number of spice jars in our kitchen! We tried keeping them organized in a cupboard, but it just never worked. It was too difficult to get to the ones in the back and we could never seem to find the ones we needed that night. Spice racks? Those didn't even come close to holding enough!

After struggling for years to find a good organization system for our spices, one day we put them in a large drawer. BAM! It worked like a charm. With all your spice jars laying flat in a drawer, not only can you reach every single one effortlessly, but you can also see exactly where each one is the moment you need it! *Happy dance!*

We also keep our cooking oils and larger spice bottles in a cabinet right by the stove. No more running to the pantry when you need something while cooking!

USE A DRYING RACK FOR POT LIDS

Does anyone else have a mess of lids just crammed into drawers or cabinets wherever they can fit? Yeah, we've been there. Try a drying rack instead!

A drying rack allows you to store and organize your lids by size! We use ours in a drawer, which optimizes space and makes finding the right lid quick and easy. If you don't have deep drawers like we do, try storing them on a pantry shelf, in a cupboard, or even under your sink.

HOME ORGANIZATION IDEAS IN THE PANTRY

Who would have ever thought to put an over-the-door shoe hanger in the pantry? Us, that's who! Those little pockets aren't only great for shoes, but they're also perfect for storing spices, peanut butter jars, vitamins, and even cleaning supplies!

This is one of our favorite and most effective home organization ideas! Put one on every closet door and use it for whatever you need to keep organized. Do your kids love applesauce pouches? Store them in a pocket they can reach so they can help themselves to a healthy snack! Mom win!

PACK INDIVIDUAL SNACK BAGS FOR EACH KID

Snacks laid out on the counter from Fun Cheap or Free.

Okay, so this home organization hack works for staying in and for when you go out. Kids can be ravenous at snack time. Make snack time less stressful by preparing each child a snack bag or a DIY “Lunchable” ahead of time. If your kids are old enough, put the snack in a location they can reach and let them help themselves. This keeps them satisfied and keeps your pantry from being ransacked all the time!

If you're going out, make sure each kid has the same snacks in their bag so there isn't any fighting over who has what! Preparing individual bags ahead of time eliminates the need for them to share… which never seems to turn out well. Check out our awesome list of healthy snack ideas for kids, too!

KEEP YOUR DISH SCRUBBERS CLEAN AND ORGANIZED

Yes, scrubbers, as in plural! The reason for having two scrubbers is simple—one is for scraping the food off of the dish, and the other is for washing it clean! There's nothing (well, almost nothing) we hate more than trying to “wash” a dish with a scrub brush that has chunks of day-old scrambled eggs and cottage cheese in it. That was a yummy visual, right?

Get one for scraping old food off and a different-colored one for cleaning. Done and done! After removing as much water as possible, use small Command Hooks to hang them on the inside of your sink cabinet door so they can dry all the way. Every few days, stick both brushes in the silverware rack and run them through the dishwasher to disinfect them as much as possible. Pretty simple, huh?

HOME ORGANIZATION IDEAS FOR CLOTHES

Keep those clothing items organized and in their place with these awesome home organization ideas. Your closet will be cleaner than it's ever been! Wahoo!

USE BINS FOR SMALL CLOSET ITEMS

We all have that one friend who folds her underwear Marie Kondo-style and keeps everything perfectly in order, huh? Well… that's not us! Instead of trying to keep all the small items organized, just toss them into their own small bin.

Organize the bins, or don't! That's totally up to you. You can get these bins from the dollar store for almost nothing! This way they are easy to access and your closet looks tidy, but you don't have to spend time organizing the bin.

KEEP A MISSING SOCK BASKET

Does anyone else have a monster in their dryer that only eats ONE of each pair of socks? That can't just be us. There is truly nothing more frustrating than folding a load of laundry and not being able to match up a single pair of socks… ARG!

Well, we finally wised up! We found an old basket laying around the house to catch all those lonely, unmatched socks. Now, every time we see a singleton sock in the laundry, we toss it into the basket. About once a week, go through the sock basket and you can usually find several matches! Or you can take it one step further and just use baskets to hold socks! Go read our clothing hacks post to see how we fixed our sock-sorting dilemma in our house. It's mind-blowing!

USE A CLOSET CATCH-ALL BASKET

Do you like to try one, or two, or three, or even four outfits before settling on one for the day? Oh, just us? Well, usually in the rush to get dressed and out the door, the cast-offs are tossed onto the floor while we tell ourselves we'll hang those back up later when there's more time. Of course, once you walk away, it's not very likely you'll actually come back to hang those clothes back up, right?

That's exactly where the catch-all basket comes into play! Instead of tossing the rejects of the day on the closet floor, toss them into your catch-all basket. You still don't have to hang them up in your hurried rush to get ready, but they also aren't hanging out, taking up floor space in and making a mess. Every few days, make it a point to clean out your basket and get everything back where it belongs!
