Surprise!!

Have you noticed I’ve been MIA the last few days?
Well folks, it’s time to introduce baby girl Page!
Priya Jean Page
(Pree-yuh)
She caught us all by surprise when I went into labor 3am Friday morning. She was born 1:15pm on Friday, July 29 2011. Weighing in at 7lb 10oz 19 inches long…exact same stats as her big brother!
I’m feeling great! In fact, I’m actually home from the hospital already (I checked out exactly 24 hours after she was born), and enjoying every minute of it. I figured,
“Hey, if I’m going to be sitting around, I’d rather be sitting around on my own couch.”

(Yes, that is me without a lick of makeup on. I have no shame any more…)

I wasn’t supposed to be induced until Monday so I was not only caught by surprise, but was caught completely unprepared! I was WAY too over confident that she wouldn’t come until Monday. My son was 8 days late, and I was scheduled to be induced 1 week early with Priya because of my hernia. I never thought in a million years she’d come 18 days earlier than my son did!
Hence…
*My bags weren’t packed
*My house wasn’t cleaned
*I had no arrangements for my toddler
*My laundry was piled up
Yikes.
That’s what I get for saving everything ’til the last minute.
Luckily my wonderful mom was able to put the pedal to the metal and drive to Utah from Oregon in record time.
So while I wasn’t able to get all the things done that I would’ve liked (such as scheduling posts for this site!) I’m thrilled to not be pregnant any more, and SO HAPPY to have such a happy, healthy, beautiful baby to snuggle all day long!
(In between wrangling my 18 month old, that is.)
Since I know you’re curious…
how we came up with the name?
In college I spent a short time in India doing humanitarian work. I worked with a little girl named Priya, and she absolutely stole my heart!

I not only felt a connection with her, but I just knew that someday I’d have a daughter named Priya. Though we told people we didn’t know what we’d name her, we knew all along our baby girl would be named Priya. It just seemed right from the moment we found out I was pregnant!

My parents now sponsor Indian Priya so we get lots of updates of her and can’t believe how big she’s getting. We can’t wait to send her pictures of the new baby!

Jean is my dad’s mother’s name. She passed away when he was about 20, so not even my mom ever got to meet her. My dad tells us that she was an amazing woman whom he admires very much, so we thought it fitting to give her a strong family name.
Thus, Priya Jean Page it is!
Happy birthday Miss Priya Jean!

Love the name- one of my best friends is named Priya! Also, I have to say that you’re making me a little nervous with this whole baby coming earlier than expected thing… I’m due in early September and still have LOTS to get done.. and also an 18 month old to wrangle. Eeek! Glad that Priya is healthy.. she is beautiful, and doesn’t look like a newborn at all! Enjoy your sweet baby girl. :)
